Organizational Effectiveness
The organizational effectiveness of a manager is very important. The manager must be able to execute tasks according to his function. If a manager is in finance then he or she must be able to execute financial transactions with ease. He or she must be able to raise funds when necessary. He or she must be able to cut the budget when funds are depleting rapidly. He or she must be able to negotiate with banks in order to reduce interest rates. He or she must be able to analyze the macro economy and make claims that will benefit the company as a whole. He or she must be able to analyze the financial strategies of competitors and how the company he or she is working in fares in comparison.
If a manager is in marketing then he or she must be able to determine which target market yields the highest profit. He or she must be able to determine which product will match which target market. He or she must be able to determine which products must be manufactured in order to gain market share in a particular area. He or she must know which sales promotions will yield the highest return on expenditures. He or she must be able to find out if a sales person will be able to succeed in delivering quotas on time. He or she must be able to find out why competitors are still in the market and how they can be eradicated altogether.
If a manager is in the operations department then he or she must be able to find out if the production capacity of the plant is at the optimum level. He or she must be able to identify if the products are being manufactured at a shortage or at a surplus. He or she must be able to identify which products are selling the most and which products are the most expensive to manufacture. He or she must be able to find out if the company should increase machinery or if the company should increase labor. He or she must be able to identify if there are wastages in the manufacturing process. He or she must be able to find out if there are by products that can be salvaged and turned into profitable opportunities.
He or she must be able to find the best factory workers on any given day. Whatever function manager is in, he or she must be organizationally effective in executing his or her tasks.
